SCR emerges champion

HYDERABAD: South Central Railway won the V. Hanumantha Rao Super Cup prize money football tournament defeating State Bank of Hyderabad 1-0 in the final at Gymkhana Grounds here on Thursday. The match-winner came in the 15th minute of first-half when striker Azeem latched on to a neat through pass from Alfred to find the target.

Azeem, the tournament’s top-scorer, was also adjudged ‘best player’ of the tournament. Special prizes were given to Johnson of SBH (best defender), Asif of SCR (best goalkeeper) and Dharni of EME (best half).

CPRF triumphs

CRPF recorded a 50-32 win over Djuvooti in the Maganti Rajkumar memorial basketball tournament at City College here. The winner led 21-17 at the break.

In another match, Deccan Medical College scored a 50-30 victory over St. Joseph’s Junior College.

The scores: CRPF 50 (Shamlal 15, Vishwanath 10, Deendayal 10) bt Djyuvooti 32 (Hassan 16).

Deccan Medical College 50 (Ismail 10, Osman 15, Nabeel 15) bt St. Joseph’s Jr College 30 (Aditya 10, Raj 10).

Narrow win for SBI

State Bank of India scored a solitary goal win over Saidabad Club in the CCOB Cup prize money football tournament at Quli Qutub Shahi Stadium here.

The match-winner came through striker Giri in the 28th minute of the first-half.

GHMC camps meeting

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation will organise its summer coaching camps from April 25 to May 31in different disciplines. In this connection a meeting has been convened with the AP Olympic Association and the State Sports Associations officials on March 14 at 11.30 a.m. at GHMC Head Office (Lower Tankbund) to chalk out the programme.

All the secretaries of the Associations are requested to attend it and suggest measures to make the camps a success, the press release said.
