CHENNAI: A book, ‘Science of Cakra,’ along with a CD, ‘Kamalamba Navavarana Kritis’ of Muttusvami Diksitar, was released here on Friday. The book was authored by Pappu Venugopal Rao, and the ‘Kritis’ were sung by Sriram Parasuram and Anooradha Sriram. N. Murali, Managing Director, The Hindu, said the book was the result of long years of scholarship, research and training. The inspiration came to Dr. Rao in 1971. “After long years of study, he is passing to us the fruits of spirituality,” Mr. Murali said. The author had made efforts to explain the subject step by step in his book, which even a layman could understand. Releasing the book and the CD, K. Sivananda Murthy Garu, said the ancient and spiritual tradition was replete with abundant literary content. Dr. Rao said that way back in 1971 when he met Swami Pranavanandha, he talked about Sri Chakra, Manasarovar and Mount Kailash. At that time, Dr. Rao wondered why he was talking to him about these things. Later, he encouraged him to write the book. The ‘Kamalamba Navavarana Kritis’ were a very unique composition, Sriram Parasuram said. Vocalist R. Vedavalli and Bharatanatyam dancer Padma Subrahmanyam participated. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
