Lorry driver murdered, body burnt

Bangalore: Gopalkrishna, a 22 year-old lorry driver, was murdered at Mahimapura in Nelamangala police station limits of Bangalore Rural district on Wednesday. The murder came to light on Thursday after the victim’s charred body was found at Mahimapura village.

The police said that Gopalkrishna was murdered by those who kidnapped him from a wedding at Nelamangala. The assailants took Gopalkrishna to Mahimapura village and murdered him by slitting his throat. Later, they burnt the body and fled.

Gopalkrishna’s older brother had filed a missing complaint with the Nelamangala police after Gopalkrishna went missing.

The police have detained one person.

Chain snatched

Miscreants fled after snatching a gold chain worth Rs. 20,000 from Hema Shamsundar, an employee of State Bank of India, at Kundalahalli in Mahadevapura police station limits.

The police said that the incident occurred at 5.30 p.m. on Thursday.

Suicides

Kusuma, a 24 year-old homemaker, immolated herself at her house at Gottigere on Thursday. The Rajarajeshswari Nagar police said she took the extreme step after a quarrel with her husband Omprakash, a garment factory employee.

Lokesh (36), a mason, hanged himself at his house at Chennappa Layout in Kamakshipalya on Thursday. The police said that Lokesh, who was in debt, was being threatened by moneylenders.
