Gujarat teams on song

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Gujarat recorded wins in both the men’s and women’s sections in the sixth National beach handball championships at the Shangumugam Beach, here on Saturday.

The Gujarat men prevailed over Karnataka 17-8, 14-6, while its women’s team had to need a tie-breaker to get the better of Maharashtra.

The results: Men: Gujarat bt Karnataka 17-8, 14-6; Karnataka bt Maharashtra 11-2, 25-8; Indian Railway bt Mumbai Academy 19-13, 16-11; Tamil Nadu bt Haryana 16-10, 19-8.
