Stone laid for court complex

Costing Rs. 3.3 crore, it will accommodate munsiff, judicial magistrate courts

ARANTHANGI: The foundation stone for the integrated court complex for Aranthangi at an estimated outlay of Rs. 3.30 crores was laid here on Sunday.

Speaking after laying the stone, Madras High Court Judge S. Rajeswaran said that the State Government had sanctioned the new infrastructure facility, with a view to serving the litigant public.

He underlined the role of the young lawyers in ensuring expeditious delivery of justice and for standing up to the expectations of the society.

Union Minister of State for Environment and Forests S. Regupathy said that the integrated complex was a long-felt need of the lawyers and the public in Aranthangi.

Principal District and Sessions Judge K. Jayasankaran, Collector D. Uthirakkumaran, president of Aranthangi Bar Association M. Shanmugasundaram, and Government Pleader B. Venkatesan were among those who spoke.

They said that the new facility would ensure efficient functioning of the lawyers. The building will accommodate the munsiff court and the Judicial Magistrate court. Provision for a sub-court has also been included in the blueprint in anticipation of future demand.

Staff quarters would also be constructed for which an additional Rs. 23 lakh has been sanctioned.
