Collectorates to print ration cards

VILLUPURAM: The printing of ration cards has been decentralised by authorising Collectorates to print and distribute the cards after due verifications. For the purpose, the ELCOT has proposed to set up printing facilities in the Collectorates. District Collector Brajendra Navnit inaugurated such a facility in the Villupuram Collectorate on Monday. He said a total of 7,137 applications seeking ration cards were received by the administration and of these 3,055 were found eligible. With the setting up of the local printing facility the distribution of new ration cards would be expedited. (Earlier the cards were printed in Chennai).Through the computerised system the photographs and other details were being matched. — Special Correspondent
