KSHEMA wins

MANGALORE: Justice K.S. Hegde Medical Academy (Deralakatte) registered an eight-wicket win over A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences in the Twenty20 cricket tournament for the Ace Surgical Cup here on Monday.

The result of the match was inconsequential for the knock-out phase of tournament with the semifinalists already being spotted.

In the first semifinal to be played on Wednesday, Sapthagiri College of Hotel Management (Kavoor) will take on Yenepoya Medical and Dental College (Deralakatte), while National Institute of Technology-Karnataka ‘B’ will take on NMAMIT (Nitte) in the second semifinal on Thursday. The final will be played on Saturday.

The scores: ABSMIDS 131 for five in 20 overs (Sujay 50, Rahul Bhandary 45 n.o.) lost to KSHEMA 134 for two in 13.2 overs (Nishanth 72).

Kaveri Hockey Club beat Naveen Hockey Club 3-2 in the Travancore Cup hockey tournament in Bangalore on Monday. Ranju Muthappa (12th), Sachin (53rd) and Belliappa (59th) scored for the winner, while Shamil (33rd & 48th) reduced the margin
