Actor held on forgery charges granted bail

One of the sureties should be the petitioner’s mother

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court on Monday granted bail to Flora Saini, an actor, in a case of forgery and cheating.

In the order, Justice K.N. Basha said that the petitioner should be enlarged on bail on her executing a bond for Rs. 50,000 with two sureties each for a like sum. One of the sureties should be the petitioner’s mother.

The petitioner should also appear before the respondent police daily between 10.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. for a week and thereafter before the police as and when required.

In the petition, filed by counsel M. Krishnamoorthy, she submitted that she was arrested by the Royapettah police on March 10 for allegedly attempting to obtain visa for Srilatha Dudela by deceitful means. She affirmed that the person was her make-up woman. In a complaint, the U.S. Consulate-General had alleged that Venkata Reddy Gadhe provided fake documents that were submitted in support of the U.S. visa application filed by Srilatha Dudela.

The case had been registered under sections 468, 471 and 420 read with 511 IPC. She was remanded to judicial custody on March 11.

She submitted that she had been a reputed film actor for the past eight years and she never created or submitted any forged documents while applying for visa. She had done lead roles in many films. She was also engaged as a model for reputed business concerns.
