Krishnagiri: The district administration has appealed to folk artists to apply for membership to the welfare board set up for them. According to a release, folk artistes, who are above 18 years and below 60 years of age, can register themselves as members of the board. The members would be eligible to get financial assistance for the education of their children, marriage and maternity assistance. Folk artistes residing in the district can register their names directly at the office of the Headmaster, Government Music School, 65/2, Bangalore Highway, Krishnagiri – 635 001. A sum of Rs.100 will be collected as membership fee. They should bring along with them certificate to show that they are folk artistes, ration card, document in support of their age and three passport size photographs, the release said. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
