BANGALORE: The Golden Chariot, Karnataka’s luxury train that returned from its maiden commercial run on Monday, is likely to leave for its second commercial run only on March 24. While the second commercial run should have commenced on Monday, authorities have decided to postpone it for technical reasons. According to the schedule, the Golden Chariot leaves on its seven-day, seven-night journey across Karnataka every Monday evening from Yeshwanthpur railway station and reaches Mysore the same night. Contractors“We have about 40 contractors associated with the project and all of them were keen to fine tune the train before packing their bags off to their respective places,” sources told The Hindu. MeetingSources said that the date for the second run would be finalised at a meeting to be held with the Tourism Department officials on Tuesday, but it would be more likely from March 24. “Certain small finishing touches such as polishing and changing light shades needed to be made for the train, which require time,” sources added. Asked if the booking for March 17 had been postponed, sources said: “We had not taken bookings for March 17, but have been promoting for the schedules for March 24 and later.” © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
