CHENNAI: A special milk card mela to distribute new cards to consumers will be conducted by Aavin at eight zonal offices and 27 milk consumer societies in the city and suburbs from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. According to a release, consumers should produce proof of residence. Cards for the period from April 1 to 15 and from April 16 to May 15 will be distributed at the mela. The cards would be available at the zonal offices in Anna Nagar, Avadi, Red Hills, Mylapore, Pallavaram, Tambaram, Mandaveli and Maraimalai Nagar. The consumer society offices in Anna Nagar (East and West), Ambattur, Choolaimedu, Pattabiram, Shenoy Nagar, Kilpauk, Mehta Nagar, Red Hills, Mandavelipakkam, Peters Colony, Pallavaram, Chromepet, Tambaram (East and West), Perungalathur, Peerkankaranai, Padappai, Sembakkam, Chengalpattu, Maraimalai Nagar, Guduvanchery, Kalpakkam, Singaperumal Koil, Vandalur and Urapakkam will also supply cards. Cards for toned milk (blue pack), standardised milk (green pack), full cream milk (orange pack) and double toned milk (magenta) would be distributed during the mela. Existing card holders can also buy the cards. Aavin supplies around 10.5 lakh litres of milk every day in city and of this 5.20 lakh litres is distributed through cards.
