NMF to remove garbage in Pulianthope

Chennai: Garbage clearance services in Pulianthope zone will soon be taken over by Neel Metal Fanalca (NMF), the private firm in charge of solid waste disposal in three zones in the city.

In August 2007, the NMF took charge of garbage clearance operations in Ice House, Kodambakkam and Adyar zones.

The Chennai Corporation had not handed over Pulianthope zone, which was included in the agreement with NMF, as the firm did not have adequate equipment and manpower.

Corporation officials say that NMF’s operations have now stabilised in the three zones. The NMF will take over Pulianthope zone too, but in a phased manner.
