Panaji: Under attack for bad policing along the coastline in the backdrop of the British teenage girl Scarlette Keeling’s death, Goa police have cracked down on illegal activities along the beachfront. Seventy people have been detained. Music at shacks has been banned after 11 p.m. The Noise Pollution Act is being enforced. Suspicious people loitering on the beaches are being questioned. The shacks, which are usually open even after midnight, were asked to shut down on Monday night. “We have formed different teams which are clamping down on these illegalities,” Superintendent of Police Bosco George said. — PTI © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
