Living life in a healthy way

Sumit Bhattacharjee

‘Dedicate at least one hour a day for some exercise’

Girish Patel

VISAKHAPATNAM: “Gain control over your body and mind, and life would never be like before.” This was the advice given by renowned psychotherapist and trainer from Mumbai Girish Patel.

He is here to conduct a five-day camp from Thursday, which is being held by the Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya. The camp will be held both at the port diamond jubilee outdoor stadium and at the Kendriya Vidyalaya- II, Nausenabagh, in the morning and in the evening respectively.

In a chat with The Hindu here on Wednesday, he suggested that in this fast track world one has dedicate at least one hour a day for some exercise and meditation to keep fit and to hold chronic diseases like diabetes, asthma, indigestion, obesity and hypertension at bay. This one one-hour should comprise of 20 minutes of pranayama, 20 minutes of light exercises and 20 minutes of meditation.

Ultimate truth

“Pranayama or breathing exercises look to be boring, but this is the ultimate form of exercise that enhances and purifies the prana shakti or the divine energy that dwells within us.

The physical exercise should be a combination of light aerobics, yoga and stretch, and it should be done to keep the body fit and alert. And finally, meditation relates to the health of the mind. The health of the body largely depends on the health of the mind,” he said.

Details of the camp, which is being held free of cost, can be had on telephone nos. 2538749, 2502283, 2725363 and 2597701.
