Kovilpatti XI posts win

Tirunelveli: Kovilpatti XI defeated Jothi Sports Club (Palayamkottai) 5-3 in the inaugural match of the TNEB Trophy State-level hockey tournament at the Anna Stadium, Palayamkottai, on Wednesday.

The teams were level at 2-2 at half-time. Suresh (5th and 46th minute), Ravi (54th and 63rd) and Sivaselvam (19th) scored for the winner.

Allan Prince (24th and 52nd) and G. Muthu (16th) were on target.

The Virudhunagar District Carrom Association will be conducting a ten-day summer camp for school boys and girls at Jaycees MHSS campus, Sivakasi, from April 11 to 20.

The sixth State-level basketball tournament for the Arockia Trophy (men) and VKV Nataraja Nadar memorial Trophy (women) will be conducted by the Kamaraj Basketball Club at Virudhunagar from April 30 to May 5.

The Dindigul District inter-collegiate cricket league for the RVS Trophy will begin at Dindigul on Friday.
