NEW DELHI: The Capital faced a shortfall of about 500 MW on Wednesday and many areas faced power cuts lasting several hours. According to a Power Department official, a technical fault at the Badarpur plant caused a shutdown in South Delhi and nearby areas for almost an hour. “The lines of the power plant tripped at about 12 noon and there was a shutdown in some areas till alternative arrangements were made. The situation, however, became normal by evening and the demand was easily met,” said the official. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
