NEW DELHI: A 27-year-old man has been arrested on the charge of killing a young man at New Usmanpur here earlier this month. A hunt has been launched for two of his accomplices. The police received information on March 3 that a foul smell was emanating from an abandoned box at Gautampuri. On breaking open its lock, the police discovered the body of a young man with deep stab injuries on the chest. The deceased was identified as Mukesh, a resident of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh. His uncle told the police that he was last spotted with his friends Islam, Rashid and Babloo on March 2. Suspecting their involvement, the police launched a hunt for the three and tracked down Islam. During interrogation, he purportedly disclosed that he along with Mukesh, Rashid and Babloo used to commit thefts.There was altercation between them on March 2. Later when Mukesh tried to attack Islam with a knife at Rashid’s house, Rashid allegedly overpowered him and Islam snatched the knife and allegedly stabbed him. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
