Call to inculcate habit of savings

Udhagamandalan: The habit of savings should be inculcated at a young age, said the Nilgiris Collector Anandrao V.Patil here on Thursday.

Rally

Flagging off a rally to enhance awareness about small savings, he said that the contribution of small savings to the development of the younger generation was significant.

He pointed out that under the small savings scheme of the government, investments doubled within a stipulated period of time. Mr. Patil said further that teachers should make students aware of the benefits of small savings.

Its role in ensuring the economic well being of the nation should be highlighted to the students, so that they could benefit.

The target set for the Nilgiris under the scheme during the current fiscal was Rs.43 crores.

Among those who participated in the rally were the Revenue Divisional Officer, K.Tharpagaraj, representatives of local bodies and non-governmental organisations.
