Extending help: District Collector V. Palanikumar distributing spectacles to a school student at a mass contact programme at Pungamuthur near Udumalpet on Thursday. UDUMALPET: Coimbatore Collector V. Palanikumar on Thursday distributed assistance to the tune of Rs.22.56 lakh to 369 beneficiaries under various Government schemes at Pungamuthur near here. OfficialsSpeaking at a mass contact programme, he appealed to the officials to highlight various Government schemes to the rural folk. Stressing that the rural parts of the district should get good infrastructure and other amenities like in the cities, Mr. Palanikumar asked educated youth to help elders in getting help under various programmes. He received around 500 petitions pertaining to various grievances and distributed free house site pattas to 221 beneficiaries at an estimated cost of Rs.11.47 lakh. PensionHe extended old age pension to two persons and assistance to six physically challenged persons. The Collector inspected an overhead tank in the village and held discussions with officials.
