IOB in last four

Tirunelveli: Defending champion Indian Overseas Bank entered the semifinals of the seventh annual TNEB Trophy State-level hockey tournament, defeating host Tamil Nadu Electricity Board 2-0 at the Anna Stadium, Palayamkottai, on Thursday.

In the other two quarterfinals, last year’s runner-up SAI Hostel (Chennai) thrashed Sivakumar Memorial Hockey Club (Thanjavur) 10-0, while Indian Bank posted an emphatic 7-1 win over Thirunagar Hockey Club (Madurai).

IOB 2 (Adam Sinclair, Arun Stalin David) bt TNEB 0.

SAI Hostel 10 (Vinodh Rayar 4, Kalidas 2, Shyamkumar, Gnanavel, David, Vinodh Kumar) bt Sivakumar Memorial HC 0.

Indian Bank 7 (Ashwin 2, V. Raja 2, James, Dinesh Naik, Mohum Basha) bt Thirunagar HC 1 (Sivamani).

State-level basketball

The 16th annual State-level basketball tournament, for the Cauvery Ammal memorial Trophy, will be conducted by the Cauvery Ammal Memorial Basketball Club at Vadamadurai, near Dindigul, from April 27 to May 1.
