Ambala: Alleged kingpin of the multi-crore kidney transplant racket Amit Kumar on Thursday denied the charges framed by the CBI against him. “I have not removed the kidney of any person on gun point. The kidneys were transplanted with the mutual consent of the donors and the beneficiaries”, he told reporters in the premises of the designated court where he was produced in connection with the case. Asked whether some political leaders were also involved in the scam as alleged by another accused in the case Upender earlier, he said he was not aware of it. He alleged that the CBI had falsely implicated him in the case and now it was freezing his bank account in Canada without any justification. He was produced in the court of Special CBI Magistrate along with the other 10 accused who remanded them to judicial custody till April 2. The other accused produced included K. K Aggarwal, Upender, Surz, Linda, Manoj, Harpal, Ramesh, Suresh and Umesh. PTI © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
