Promote unity, says Barnala

CHENNAI: Governor Surjit Singh Barnala has highlighted the need for promotion of unity, peace and harmony on the occasion of Meelad-Un-Nabi.

Conveying his greetings to the Muslims, Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi said the joyous occasion was an opportunity to rededicate oneself to the service of the poor and the oppressed sections.

AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa said the occasion would pave the way for better communal harmony.

PMK founder S. Ramadoss wanted everyone to follow the teachings of Prophet Mohammed. Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president M. Krishnasswamy wanted everyone to take a pledge to work for the betterment of society. MDMK general secretary Vaiko hoped that the occasion would further strengthen the country’s secular fabric.
