Flood prevention scheme for Madurai

CHENNAI: “A scheme has been formulated for flood prevention in Madurai. The works will be carried out at a cost of Rs. 12 crore,” said Finance Minister K. Anbazhagan, presenting the budget for 2008-09. Of the five government engineering colleges to be set up in the State, one each will be set up in Nagapattinam and Ramanathapuram.

Also, the Government will set up two medical colleges – one in Perambalur and another in Sivaganga.

In addition, one of the two nursing schools will be attached to the Theni Medical College.
