Workshop on Geographical Indications

BANGALORE: Just as the number of horticulture crops from Karnataka registered for Geographical Indications (GI) registry is increasing, the Horticulture Department has organised a workshop on Monday to discuss present status and explore future options of GI. The workshop assumes importance after Karnataka registered six crops under GI and six more are in the process of being registered.

The workshop, to be inaugurated by Lokayukta N. Santosh Hegde, will be attended by experts in the field of intellectual property rights. A release said that the growing importance of GI requires initiatives at various levels.
