TIRUPATI: The State secretary of the Madiga Reservations Porata Samiti (MRPS) B. Raju Madiga has in a statement here said that after a month-long Statewide cycle jatha, nearly 91 lakh Madigas would converge at Hyderabad on April 21 to lay siege to the Assembly and register their protest against the “callous and indifferent attitude of the State government” towards their demand for categorisation of the Scheduled Castes into A,B,C and D categories for the purpose of extending the benefits of reservations. He said the cycle jatha would be formally launched at Tirupati on Monday by Manda Krishna Madiga, the founder-president of the MRPS along with Dandu Veeraiah Madiga, State president. Similar jathas would set out from the coastal and Telangana districts as well to mobilise the Madigas for the massive dharna and exert pressure on the Central government to table the recommendations of the Usha Mehra Commission in the Parliament. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
