PCTC moves up

BANGALORE: Pioneer Corps Training Centre (PCTC) beat South Western Railway (Hubli) 5-2 in a Pool ‘A’ fixture to enter the quarterfinals of the Travancore Cup hockey tournament here.

Baig, S. Kujur, Anthony Hemron and S. Mundu scored for PCTC. Mallikarjunan and Shashidhar scored for the Railway team.

Army XI too made it to the last eight with a 3-0 win over Sports Authority of India in Pool ‘D’. Armugham, Banty Singh and Rajesh scored the goals for Army XI.

The other teams in the last eight are Canara Bank and Indian Telephone Industries from Pool ‘A’, Rail Wheel Factory from Pool ‘B’, Karnataka State Police and Army Service Corps from Pool ‘C’ and Sports Authority of India from Pool ‘D’.
