Leaders’ appeal to Eraiyur residents

“Implement resolutions passed by the Archdiocese of Puducherry and Cuddalore”


VILLUPURAM: An all-party meeting held here on Sunday passed a resolution calling upon the people of Eraiyur to ensure free access to the common path for the Christian faithful and the district administration to implement the directives of the Archdiocese.

The meeting, presided by K. Dhanraj, MP, was attended by Thanga Jothi of Pattali Makkal Katchi, Sinthanai Selvan, State deputy general secretary and D. Ravikumar, MLA, of the Vidhuthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, Ramamurthy and Ananthan of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Subbarayan of the Communist Party of India and A. Annamali of Congress.

The meeting noted that the district administration should implement the resolutions passed by the Archdiocese of Puducherry and Cuddalore.

It also condoled the death of two persons in the police firing on March 9 and a Dalit Christian who died on Saturday and whose funeral was held up owing to the blocking of the common path by majority Christians.
