Federal Bank tournament from April 28

KOCHI: The Federal Bank international women’s tennis tournament, a $10,000 ITF circuit event, will be held at the FISAT Stadium courts at Mookkannur, near Angamaly, from April 28 to May 4.

K.S. Harshan, the Executive Director of Federal Bank, launched the tournament at the Hotel Presidency here on Tuesday night.

Four new clay courts will be laid for the week-long event at FISAT, an engineering college which is managed by the Federal Bank Officers Association Educational Society. Since we have a series of similar tournaments in the country after our event, the entry should be good, said T.D. Francis, the AITA Treasurer.

The ITF women’s circuit calendar has the Kerala Open in Thiruvananthapuram coming soon after the Ernakulam event and two $10,000 events in Gurgaon in June. — Principal Correspondent
