Parents of toppers honoured

PUDUKOTTAI: Parents of 15 students of Venkatesvara Polytechnic College here were in for a surprise at a parent-teacher meeting held at the college campus recently.

They were honoured in recognition of the academic achievements of their wards, who secured top ranks in different branches of study at the college.

“Parents play a key role for their wards’ academic laurels. The parent-teacher meeting was called specially to honour the parents whose sons or daughters had secured top marks,” said correspondents R.M.V. Kathiresan, R.A. Kumarasamy and Karuppiah.

Overwhelmed

Each parent was honoured with a shawl, amid thundering applause by the audience. Many of them were visibly moved.

The students who secured top-ranks were: S. Ramesh, S. Manikandan, V. Nagarajan, Santhosh Srinivas, R. Jalip Mohammad, V. Senthilkumar, A. Anbarasan, K. Kaviarasan, K. Vijayakannan, S. Nageshwara Manikandan, S. Balasubramanian, M. Selvakumar, Meenadevi, M. Mohammad Hasarudeen and C. Sudha.

A few parents said honouring parents of toppers reflected the college authorities’ realisation of their contribution for their wards’ career growth.

Vice-Principal Sankaran was among those who spoke.
