Ugadi Puraskar Awards announced

CHENNAI: Nine film personalities will be honoured with Ugadi Puraskar Awards 2008 by Sri Kalasudha Telugu Association here on April 6.

Association president B.Srinivas said the awards are being given for the tenth year. Actors Brahmanandam, Vishal, Sneha and Tamanna, art director Thota Tharani, film director Krishnavamsi, ‘Chandamama’ film producer C.Kalyan, music director R.P.Patnaik and producer C.C.Reddy would be awarded for their achievements.

Actors Vishal and Tamanna have been chosen as best debuts in the Telugu film industry this year.

The awardees will be conferred with silver crown weighing half a kg, he said. The jury of the awards included secretary of South Indian Chamber of Commerce K. Prasad and chairman of Nandi Award Committee V.S.R.Swamy.

Union Minister of State for Mines T.Subbarami Reddy and Mayor M.Subramanian are expected to participate in the function to be held at the Music Academy. Sri Kalasudha Telugu Association, which was started in 1998, is involved in promoting cultural activities. It also screens Telugu movies every week, Mr.Srinivasan added.
