VIRUDHUNAGAR: A salesman of a fair price shop at Tiruthangal in the district was placed under suspension on Saturday on the charge of selling rice at a higher price. According to a release, Collector, V. Chandrasekaran, ordered the suspension when his attention was drawn to certain irregularities in the sale of ration rice at a meeting of consumer protection committee at the Collectorate. Participants alleged that rice was sold at Rs.5 per kg and fake bills were prepared for the sale of commodities at a particular shop in Tiruthangal. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
