HYDERABAD: The Lok Satta party is planning to train its guns on the irregularities allegedly committed by legislators as part of a four-month ‘surajya’ campaign on March 31, seeking to educate people on how ‘swarajya’ has been distorted into ‘swaharajya’, party secretary D.V.V.S. Varma announced here on Saturday. At a press conference here he said the party would mobilise 25,000 volunteers for a fortnight from April 6 to spread the campaign to every corner of the State. The campaign will comprise exhibitions and cultural programmes. The party will also organise ‘mega’ dharnas at government offices between May 15 and 25 demanding curbs on liquor consumption, ‘which is playing havoc with people’s lives. The party will conduct a survey in a selected village in every district on the implementation of government schemes as a prelude to launching a direction action programme in August, Mr. Varma stated. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
