NEW DELHI: A nine-year-old boy, who was kidnapped from Okhla for a ransom of Rs.7 lakh, has been rescued by the South Delhi police from the Indo-Nepal border. Four young men have been arrested. Aakash, son of Rajkumar who runs a fabric export unit, went missing on March 21. While efforts were on to trace Aakash, his father received a ransom call on March 24 demanding Rs.7 lakh for his release. The call was traced to a public telephone booth at Arariya in Bihar, after which a police team was despatched there. On Thursday morning when one of the kidnappers went to the same telephone booth , he was arrested. He was identified as Vishnu Bishwas. At his instance, Aakash was rescued from the custody of another accused, Pradeep Dev. Subsequently the third accused, Tapan Mandal, was also arrested. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
