Selectors unhappy over Shoaib Malik’s absence

Karachi: Pakistan’s national selectors are unhappy with captain Shoaib Malik for his absence during the selection of the squad for the Bangladesh series.

The selectors were surprised when they were told to communicate with Malik, who was not available for the last 10 days citing his mother’s poor health, on telephone in Mumbai to finalise the squad for the first two one-day games against Bangladesh. “It came as a surprise to us to know that Malik was in Mumbai. We were told he was not playing in domestic matches because of the illness of his mother,” a selector said.

Sources said Malik had been to Mumbai for some official ceremony of the Indian Premier League and in connection with some personal legal case. — PTI
