Central Board of Direct Taxes gets new chief

NEW DELHI: Prasanna Kumar Misra, a 1971 batch officer of the Indian Revenue Service , on Tuesday took over as Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).

Prior to his appointment as Chairman, Mr. Misra was Member (Investigation) in the CBDT since January 2007.

Earlier, he had served in the Income Tax Department in various capacities such as Chief Commissioner, Delhi & Udaipur; Commissioner, Mumbai; and Director (Investigation), Hyderabad.

Alongside, S. S. Khan (IRS 1972) also joined the CBDT as Member.

Earlier, he had served as Director General of Income Tax (Investigation) and Director of I-T (Systems), besides other assignments in the Department.
