Nagi Reddy takes charge as SP

Kakinada: Y Nagi Reddy, a 1997 batch IPS officer, took charge as Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office here on Wednesday. He had worked as additional SP in Karimnagar, officer on special duty at Warangal and SP of Srikakulam and Kadapa districts before taking the reigns of East Godavari.
Speaking to the media persons, Mr. Nagi Reddy said ensuring justice to the victims of violence and crime would be his priorities.
Due importance would be given to make the maximum force available for people’s service and properly attending to their grievances. Similarly, he would work out the strategy to reduce the number of road accidents which, he said, was a major problem everywhere.
Mr. Reddy said he would continue the good work done by his predecessor B Sreenivasulu, who was posted as the Deputy Commissioner of Police of Cyberabad (Hyderabad), and try to achieve better results.
As regards Maoist activities, Mr. Reddy said he would first analyze the situation and then do whatever is required to check the menace. He would always be conscious of safety of police in Agency areas, whom he advised to take all precautions while moving in places prone to attacks by the Maoists.
Crime rate in East Godavari was slightly higher compared to Kadapa due to its large population and infrastructure is a constraint like in all developing cities and towns, the SP said and added that he would be available at DPO on Mondays to redress people’s grievances.
Additional SP AV Ranganath, OSD PHD Ramakrishna and Kakinada DSP S Surya Rao were present.
