Mayiladuturai town to get a facelift at Rs.40 crore

MAYILADUTURAI: The Mayiladuturai Municipality in Nagapattinam district has chalked out Rs.40-crore plan for developing Mayiladuturai town with all infrastructure and basic amenities in the near future, said Lingarajan, Chairman of the Municipality, here on Tuesday.

Presiding over the Mayiladuturai Municipal Council meeting, Mr. Lingarajan said that the works includes development of parks, roads, sanitation and drinking water facilities. The funds required for the development of the town will soon be allocated.

New bus stand

Replying to a question of a councillor, the chairman said that the municipality had proposed to shift the existing Mayiladuturai bus stand on the Tarangampadi Road and Rs.5,000 had been allocated for preparing a plan for the new bus stand. There are now two bus stand in Mayiladuturai town.

Anti-rabies vaccine

The chairman said that steps would be taken to administer anti-rabies vaccine for dog bite cases daily instead of once a week at the Government hospital. He pointed out that there was no shortage of anti-rabies vaccine in the hospital.

New park

When Natarajan, a DMK councillor, requested for establishing a new park in Mayiladuturai, the chairman said that he would consider it and pointed out that the existing park itself requires development and Rs.40 lakh would be allocated for improvement of the present park in the town.

Garbage removal

Anbu, a DMK councillor, brought to the notice of the chairman that sanitary condition in the town was poor and wanted the chairman to take immediate steps for removal of the garbage dumped in various parts of the town. The Chairman immediately ordered for removal of the garbage in the town.
