NAMAKKAL: The district administration has enrolled over 500 folk artists as members of the welfare board established for them during a special camp conducted here recently. Collector G. Sundaramurthi, presiding, said that artists aged between 15 and 60 years could register as members of the board. The State government had initiated a number of measures for the welfare of the folk artists. The district administration had already given free house site pattas to 38 poor folk artists, he added. Mr. Sundaramurthi distributed a sum of Rs. 1.80 lakh as pension to 15 folk artists during the camp. District Revenue Officer G.
