Ramanachary unhappy with upkeep of facilities Takes a look at badly maintained Kalyanakatta TIRUMALA: With the summer rush all set to peak up in the next few days, TTD Executive Officer K.V. Ramanachary on Saturday inspected various on-going works at Tirumala to get a first-hand information on their status. He visited Varahagiri guest, Kalyanakatta complex, reception office, Nithya Annadanam canteen etc and noted that their upkeep left much to be desired. He took a look at a badly maintained bath room in the Kalyanakatta (tonsuring centre) and desired that it look better. He advised engineering, health and reception officials not to compromise on the pilgrim amenities and directed them to tell their respective staff members to pull up their socks to meet the summer rush. He also visited the Sahasra Deepalankara Mandapam located close to the hill temple. The Mandapam is being refurbished after the unsavoury incident wherein the metal chain of the Lord’s Unjal (Swing) snapped off even as the staff was preparing for the Unjal Seva of the deity. He dropped into the reception office and verified the attendance register, looking for unauthorised absentees. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
