ALAPPUZHA: A revenue inspector with the Alappuzha Municipality was caught red-handed by Vigilance and Anti-Corruption sleuths while accepting a bribe of Rs.2,000 for doing an official favour. According to officials, S. Sreekumar, revenue inspector for the South section, had demanded the bribe from Ashokan, a teacher with the Carmel Academy here, for issuing an ownership certificate to Ashokan’s friend who had purchased a plot of land near the Bhattathiri Purayidom here. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
