Medical Benefit Full medical care for self and dependants are admissible from day one of entering insurable employment in terms of service and kind. Primary, outpatient, inpatient and speciality services are provided through a network of ESI Dispensaries and Hospitals, while Super Speciality Services are provided through advanced empanelled medical institutions on referral basis. The insured persons on superannuation are also entitled for the flow of Medical Benefits for self and spouse subject to certain conditions. Sickness Benefit This cash benefit is more than 50% of the daily wages approximately. The person should have worked and contributed to the scheme for not less than 78days during the relevant contribution period to be eligible for this benefit. It is admissible for a maximum period of 91 days in a year during two consecutive benefit periods. Extended Sickness Benefit Admissible in cases of certain long term diseases like cancer and leprosy. This cash benefit is more than 70% of the daily wages approximately. The person should have been an employee/ insured person for a period of not less than 2 years to be eligible for this benefit. It is admissible up to two years (subject to conditions). Maternity Benefit This cash benefit is about 100% of the daily wages approximately. The person should have paid contributions for not less than 70 days during the two contribution periods immediately preceding the date of confinement to be eligible for this benefit. It is admissible for 84 days and extendable for30 days more (subject to conditions). Temporary Disablement Benefit: This cash benefit is more than 70% of the daily wages approximately. The person should have sustained employment injury as an employee on the day of accident for qualifying the benefit. Admissible from the date of employment injury till the wound is healed without any restriction on the duration of disablement. Permanent Disablement Benefit: Admissible in case of permanent disablement due to employment injury. This cash benefit is % of loss of earning capacity on 70% of the daily wages approximately. It will be disbursed in the form of monthly pension till life. This cash benefit can be commuted subject to certain conditions. Dependants Benefit Admissible in case of death due to employment injury. Approximately 70% ofthe wages will be apportioned and paid to the dependants on the prescribed ratio. It will be disbursed in the form of monthly pension. Minor dependants will be entitled until attainment of majority and others will be entitled till life (subject to certain conditions). Funeral Benefit The person should have been an insured person on the date of death. It will be immediately disbursed to the eldest surviving member of the family or who has actually incurred the expenditure. The cash assistance will be to the maximum 3000/- in only lump sum. Unemployment allowance This cash benefit is more than 50% of the daily wages approximately. The person should have contributed to the Scheme for not less than 5 years preceding the date of unemployment.
