Eviction put off

Thrissur: Eviction of residents from a slum near the Thrissur railway station was put off by one month on Monday. Railway officials and the police tried to evict slum dwellers in the morning. When the residents resisted the move, the Mayor and a few Corporation councillors arrived. Railway officials postponed the eviction after the Mayor intervened and said that efforts were on to rehabilitate the residents. — Staff Reporter
