SIT clinches title

Madurai: Sethu Institute of Technology (Kariapatti) lifted the K.L.N. Krishnan Memorial Trophy, defeating host KLN College of Engineering by 10 wickets in the State-level inter-engineering Twenty20 cricket tournament at Pottapalayam, near here on Tuesday.

The scores: Final: KLN CE 86 in 18 overs (Jegannathan three for 12, Umar Kuthos three for 27) lost to SIT (Kariapatti) 87 for no loss in 12 overs (Silambarasan 58 n.o., Umar Kuthos 26 n.o.); Third place: PSNA CE (Dindigul) 120 for six in 20 overs (Karthik 36) bt Thiagarajar CE (Madurai) 113 for seven in 20 overs (Suraj 44 n.o).

Special award: Vijay Anand (KLN CE).

Reno scalps five

At Nagercoil, R. Reno (five for 32) and Sathish Kumar (64) helped Sunshine Cricket Club carve out a 78-run victory over Marthandam Friends Cricket Club in the Kanyakumari District Cricket Association’s second division league on Monday.

The scores: First division: Packer CC 160 in 37.2 overs lost to Sunny CC 161 for seven in 26.3 overs (Sahaya Babin 39).

Second division: Sunshine CC 203 for four in 30 overs (Denis 42, Sathish Kumar 64) bt Marthandam Friends CC 125 in 18 overs (R. Reno five for 32).

Swimming camps

At Madurai, the Madurai Unit of SDAT will organise summer swimming coaching camps at the Madurai Race Course Stadium pool in three phases.

The first phase will be from April 16 to 30, the second phase from May 1 to 15 and the third phase from May 15 to 30.

At Coimbatore, Sri Ramakrishna Cricket Trust will conduct a summer cricket coaching camp for the under-10 to u-19 age group boys at the SNR Sons College grounds from April 15 to May 14.
