Collector inspects development work

Under the Ground and Water Resources Project in Pudukottai

PUDUKOTTAI: Collector D.Uthirakkumaran on Tuesday inspected the development work being carried out under the Ground and Water Resources Project in the South Vellar basin.

He visited fields at Thaanjur where maize has been raised as an alternative and short-term crop on 62.5 acres.

Mr.Uthirakkumaran interacted with the farmers and enquired about the buy-back arrangements and the prices offered to them.

The Collector later inspected the farm ponds developed under the scheme at Pambanpatti and other development work at Yenampatti and Pulivalam.

The Executive Engineer of the PWD (South Vellar basin) Natarajan and others accompanied the Collector.

Applications invited

The district administration has invited applications from those wishing to obtain international driving licence.

Applicants with domestic driving licence could apply for the international licence in Form A along with their passport, passport size photographs, copies of their licence and medical certificate. Applicants would be required to pay Rs.500 as fee and Rs.500 as service charge.

Applicants residential address given in the passport and the domestic driving licence should be the same.

The international driving licences would be issued the same day of submission of applications at the Regional Transport Office, the Collector said in a release.
