Child escapes from police custody

NEW DELHI: A minor boy, who was arrested on Monday for alleged criminal assault on a mentally challenged minor girl at Alipur here, escaped from police custody on Tuesday.

According to the police, the accused was arrested after the victim’s mother lodged a complaint alleging that he took her 14-year-old daughter away. A resident of Kanpur, the accused had come to the Capital to meet his sister who is the victim’s neighbour.

On Tuesday morning when the police were about to take him to the juvenile court, the accused managed to flee. A police team has been despatched to his house at Kanpur to look for him.
