2,345 cases of traffic violations

PUDUKOTTAI: As many as 2,345 cases of traffic violations have been registered in the district in the last one month, Superintendent of Police Moorthi said.

Explaining the various measures taken by the police administration for maintaining law and order at the ‘Police Public Grievances Redressal Day’ meeting held here on Tuesday, Mr. Moorthi said that a strict vigil was being kept on traffic violations.

A total of 366 of these 2,345 cases pertained to driving under the influence of alcohol. Another 255 cases were registered against over-speeding. On the achievement in the detection of property cases, he said 60 out of the total 66 cases had been detected till the end of March. Property worth Rs. 12.54 lakh had also been recovered.

The petitions received from the members of the public and police personnel were, depending upon priority, being classified into three categories as ‘one star’, ‘two star’, and ‘three star’ for taking action within a fortnight, a week and three days respectively. So far, 166 petitions were received of which 104 had been resolved, he added.
