Memorial meeting today

A memorial meeting to pay respects to freedom fighter G. Mallikharjuna Rao, who died on March 29, would be held at S.V.S. Kalyana Mandapam at 11 a.m. on Thursday, according to Krishna District Freedom Fighters’ Association secretary Vemulapalli Vamana Rao.

He said Mallikharjuna Rao played a great role in declaring Paritala as a republic during the fight against the Nizam’s rule. He served as sarpanch of Kothapeta village near Paritala for 30 years.
