Arrows, MSU in last four

CHENNAI: Arrows scripted a facile 4-1 victory over AG’s Office to advance to the semifinals of the Deccan Chronicle Trophy football tournament at the Nehru Stadium here on Wednesday.

Pugalendhi opened the account in the 41st minute. Ezekeil (61st), Rajmohan (73rd) and Ravi Moses (79th) added to the tally. Umesh pulled one back for AG’s in the 77th minute.

In another match, Madras Sporting Union edged out Chennai Customs by a solitary goal. Reagan netted the winner in the 28th minute.

In the last four clashes, Arrows will take on ICF on Thursday, while MSU meets SAI on Friday.

The results: Arrows 4 (Pugalendhi, Ezekeil, Rajmohan, Ravi Moses) bt AG’s Office 1 (Umesh); MSU 1 (Reagan) bt Chennai Customs 0.

Kumar-Ganesan win

C.R. Kumar and S. Ganesan won the T. Nagar Social Club open pairs event with a score of 59.13 per cent sitting East-West. Mrs. Sri Hari and Sunil Verghese won in the North-South direction with score of 54.81 per cent.

Other results: East-West: 2. S. Kailasam and P. Chandramouli 56.73 per cent, 3. D.V. Ravi and N. Viswanathan 56.25 per cent.

North-South: 2. A. Rama Rao and Sen Philip 53.37 per cent, 3. R. Kalyan and Venkatesh 53.21 per cent.

Besant Nagar ‘A’ in final

Besant Nagar ‘A’ and MCC ‘A’ advanced to the final of the Sanmar-TNTA ‘A’ zone league tennis championship with convincing semifinal wins.

The final will be played on April 12 and 13.

Summer camps

Madras Youths Basketball Club (MYBC) and State Bank of India will jointly conduct the 26th summer camp from May 1 to 30 for boys and girls between nine and 19 at Corporation ground, T. Nagar. Contact Kamatchisundaram, Secretary, MYBC, at the venue from April 26 to 30 between 5 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.

Tamil Nadu Basketball Association will conduct its 25th summer camp for boys and girls between six and 18 from April 23 to May 8 at J.J. Indoor Stadium, Kilpauk. A.D. Sendureswaran, chief coach, TNBA, is conducting the camp.
