Sri Satya Sai Baba’s birthday to be celebrated


VIZIANAGARAM: Bharat Cultural Integration Committee in association with Madras Telugu Academy will be conducting its 34th national festival – Spirit of Unity Concerts for Universal Integration – here on November 14,15 and 16, according to T.V.K. Sastry, founder of the academy.

At a meeting of the BCIT on Saturday, Mr. Sastry said that on the first day of the programme, the academy would be presenting scholarships of Rs. 6,000 each to students who ranked first in the 10th class examination in 2007-08 in all states and Union Territories.

On November 15, BCIT would be celebrating Sri Satya Sai Baba’s birthday and the day following it ‘Balaji Sangeet Kalyanotsav’ – in which poojas and other rituals including ‘abhisheka’ to Lord Balaji -- will be conducted on the dais. During the three days artistes of national repute would give performances. Numerous dignitaries in the country and people from all walks of life would attend the celebrations, Mr. Sastry said.

Minister for Housing Botcha Satyanarayana, Lok Sabha member Botcha Jhansi Lakshmi, local MLA Kolagatla Veerabhadra Swamy and others were present. Mr. Satyanarayana asked members of various cultural oranisations in the town to form a committee in the next 10 days and chalk-out a plan for the success of the three-day festival. He assured Mr. Sastry of all the help and also appealed to the media to give wide publicity.
