A.P. Youth Congress to launch padayatras

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Youth Congress will seek strength for the efforts of its parent party in publicising the Rajasekhara Reddy government’s programmes during this election year by launching padayatras on April 14.

Party cadres will cover all the 23 districts — walking 40 km in every district — to create awareness about the programmes and understand ground realities. It will conclude at Guntur on June 1.

The yatra had been designed in such a way that the cadres would cover three districts every six days while the district unit leaders will walk another 100 km in their respective areas, APYC president T.J.R. Sudhakar Babu, told reporters here on Saturday. The ‘Maro Praja Prashtanam’, will be flagged off by APCC president D. Srinivas and Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy would attend the inaugural.

Mr. Sudhakar Babu here on Saturday said that while highlighting the programmes launched by the government, the participants would get first-hand information of their implementation.

Countering TDP

The padayatra had been chalked out with the main aim of countering the campaign launched against the government by the Telugu Desam Party.

Youth Congress leaders will focus on “exposing” the TDP and the alleged anti-Dalit attitude of its president N. Chandrababu Naidu during the programme.
